Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my favorite tastes, sights, memories and loved ones.

A Weekend in Chicago

We recently visited Sam's parents in Chicagoland and had an absolute blast. Fall is in full swing in Chicago and some mornings maybe even felt like winter! We took a flight to Chicago after work on Friday and enjoyed deep dish pizza with Sam's parents. We started Saturday morning with a trip to the sweetest coffee shop, a Bush-Joseph favorite, and a little fall-inspired baking. We were so thankful to have been generously given tickets to the Notre Dame vs Southern California football game in South Bend, IN. So on Saturday, we drove out to the game and although USC lost, we had a lot of fun together.

Although I can't say I'm quite ready for the cold weather, I did really enjoy breaking out my cozy sweaters, boots, and scarves. There's something so sweet about being able to cozy up with warm clothes and a warm drink! On Sunday, we had a delicious brunch with some of our family and afterwards, Sam and I headed downtown for a little adventure. We mostly explored the lake front and the West Loop. I'd never been to the West Loop neighborhood before and was absolutely charmed. So many cute cafes, restaurants, bakeries! We got {more} coffee and treats at the Allis, but cannot wait to go back for their high tea!! I LOVE high tea - anyone have recommendations for DC?

We only had two full days in Chicago, but enjoyed every moment! We ended our trip at a local restaurant in Sam's hometown and had great conversations with my in-laws over burgers, truffle fries, and cocktails. I always seem to leave Chicago wanting more time there and I'd love to check out these spots next time we're in town:

1. Ice Cream Sandwiches at Nonna's {they were out of stock when we went!}
2. RM Champagne
3. Boozy Sno-Cones at Expat {maybe not until next summer!}
4. Afternoon Tea at the Allis {PLEASE go swoon over the photos on their website}
5. Le Colonial
6. The Terrace at Trump Tower {best views of downtown}
7. J. Parker at Hotel Lincoln

We are so thankful for our weekend in Chicago and for our gracious hosts, my in-laws! Until next time, Windy City!

xoxo,
Amber
